An 'impartial' observer
11:31pm on 10th Mar 09
an hour after the game
A hard fought victory for ZB despite the referees best efforts to help the opposition with a number of dubious calls. For future games, I feel refs that stand on the halfway line without moving, making calls on incidents that he cannot even see, should not be paid. £12 an hour is a joke. Sort it out.

You can't be an impartial observer if you're using laungauge such as 'opposition' as that donates that you are supporting one of the teams. As for the referee, I was happy with his performance and the majority of his decisions were correct, obviously you're not going to agree with all the decisions he makes during the game. I agree that the referee should have been more involved in the action but at the same time he could see the action perfectly well from the half way line and make his calls correctly. If your an 'impartial' observer then can I suggest that as an observer you were standing on the touchline, the same touchline your complaining the referee was standing on. If you can see the action and say that the decisions were incorrect then can I suggest that the referee, who was the same distance from the action as you were, was able to make a decision on the action just like you could.

How about you stop focusing on my 'name' and start addressing the actual problem. If you're a referee, you need to keep up with the play. As far as I remember, you were stood right next to him, so how the hell would you know that the 'majority' of his decisions were correct?? The fact of the matter is, you cannot make fair decisions when standing on the halfway line. Its a damn cheek of you to charge each team £3 per game which is going to go to someone that is on the most part, an 'observer', who is stood on the touchline!

I`m just glad that we won going 1-0 down but i was not aware you could score from kick ins near the half way line without somebody else touching it. The scoreline is a bit generous to Klunge, they only had 2 maybe 3 shots on target that where taken in our half

The goalkeeper touched the ball from the shot from the kick in anyway, so the goal counts. I thought Klunge played well despite not having the luxury of that many substitutes. ZB had nothing special about them, and although they were good at holding up the ball and passing, there was no moments of class. Also you cant kick a player after he's scored just because you're in a sulk. Grow up.
2:54pm on 11th Mar 09
17 hours after the game
You don't need moments of class to beat an average team like Klunge. When the opposition has one sub, the best thing to do is hold the ball up and pass it about...wears out the opposition you see. We call it tactics!!.

Klunge are a decent, tough team, and as another (actual) impartial observer I thought ZB did very well to win, particularly after that early set-back. As for the referee, while I agree he could have been more involved and occasionally used his legs, there's no denying that his style helped the game flow. The last thing this league needs if a whistle-happy ref with stop start games, as that only benefits teams like Klunge who rely on set-pieces and long balls to score.
3:41pm on 11th Mar 09
18 hours after the game
Noone asked for a whistle-happy ref. All we need is a referee that is going to actually keep up with the play in order to make decisions on incidents he is actually close to. From what I saw, he had two working legs, so I don't see why he can't at least lumber round a little bit.
4:14pm on 11th Mar 09
18 hours after the game
I`m not that much bothered about the ref not doing a lot of running, i just noticed that the ball went out of play a few times at the other side of the pitch and only stopped play if the team protested, while that worked in our favour for that game it still wasnt fair. As for the 5th comment down nobody has said anything about kicking a player down, i gave our goalkeeper an earfull and your clearly biased towards Klunge so ofcourse your going to say he touched the ball whether he did or didnt, also if you could hold the ball well and pass then maybe you`d be in the top half of the table ;)

and about the "kicking out" thing, i have been informed that may have been me, i wasn't in a sulk though, far from it 'cause i literally cudn't care less about football, but i had been drinking all day and was in a bit of a state, sorry to whoever i lashed a leg out to though,. it's wasn't big or clever, PS,. sorry about taking your throw in,. ha,. i didn't know what was goin on,.

..and another thing, my first goal should have stood,. a delicate control with the arm should not be penalised, if anything, it was so brazen it should have counted double,.

Well if Klunge only had two shots on target in your half then your keeper is a bit crap really considering he let in two goals!

This is from an impartial observer, drinking all day and then kicking someone for no reason, which if it is you, you did do, makes you a bit of a knob really. And if you are going to blame Klunge for scoring from set peices and long shots, how bad is your keeper for not being able to see and spot them coming towards him? It was a good game really, and the result didn't flatter either side, though it would have been nice to move a little bit, and from where I was there was one corner he gave Klunge when it was clearly a goal kick.

The first goal must have traveled through every player on the pitch before reaching the goal, making it very difficult for the keeper to see. I doubt there are many other keepers out there who could have saved it. The second was just a quality finish after a misplaced pass. You should probably have checked out how many goals hes conceded this season before calling him crap too....I make those 2 goals conceded the only ones that have got past him so far.

Dear me... This is starting to get abit sad isn't it? 'You did this, we did that etc etc etc' I thought this was a University league not a junior league! The point is writing comments on a internet site is pointless, the scores wont change. To quote journey: "Some will win, some will lose Some were born to sing the blues." I think we can all take alot from that poignant message.

Don't think anyone was actually trying to change the result of the game. The first post was commenting on the poor refereeing, something that actually got a response from Nick. I wouldn't call that pointless....

The midfield maestro wasn't playing due to a career ending knee injury, ZB got a bit of a let off here. Come on the Klunge!!

ZB were playing with someone who has a broken leg and still beat you. Think about that.
